The City of Ocala, one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, seeks a highly motivated Principal Planner to join our team to assist in monitoring and managing the economic and physical development of the city. This is a highly responsible, technical, and professional position that will supervise planning staff; provide direction on reviewing amendments to the comprehensive plan and requests for zoning changes, variances, special exceptions, abrogations, annexations and alcoholic beverage permit requests; review planned unit development plans, neighborhood plans and redevelopment plans; review and comment on site plans according to Land Development Regulations, provide staff assistance to City Boards; and serve as project leader on various planning projects and studies.
Requires a master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, geography or related field; AICP certification; and a minimum of seven years’ related experience in planning, preferably with City or County government.
