The CFRPC seeks a full-time Senior Planner to perform a variety of development review functions for local governments within the central Florida region.  Work includes but is not limited to daily zoning inquiries, review of non-residential site development plans, residential subdivision and plat reviews, right-of-way vacations, variances, and special exceptions.  The position requires communication with citizens, developers and consultants and local government staff. This work also involves attending local government meetings including evening meetings.

The Central Florida Regional Planning Council’s (CFRPC) primary mission is to provide support to the citizens and local governments of our region and to seek ways to improve the quality of life of the citizens of the Heartland through technical assistance to local governments, transportation planning, emergency preparedness and economic development coordination in DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Okeechobee, and Polk Counties.  The office is located in Bartow, Florida, which is the County Seat of Polk County.  The CFRPC is an award-winning team staffed by a small, highly experienced group of planning professionals and program specialists.  Named a Best Place to Work, the CFRPC offers a dynamic, flexible, and team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications:  Minimum five years directly related experience performing development review functions.  Proficiency in GIS mapping and analyses using ESRI software is preferred but not required.  A Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field is required.  Applicants must be motivated and willing to work directly with the staff of local governments, have good verbal and written communication skills, thorough research skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Must have valid driver’s license or be able to secure a valid Florida driver’s license at time of employment.  Competitive salary and full benefits package.
