The City of New Port Richey is seeking an experienced Planning and Community Development Director to serve in a key role on the City’s Leadership Team. Known for its cultural heritage and unique riverfront landscape, the City of New Port Richey is a residential community with a strong local government and an attractive historical downtown with a broad array of business and retail services. New Port Richey is located in Florida’s Central Gulf Coast, approximately thirty miles northwest of Tampa.  The Gulf of Mexico coastline borders the west side and the Pithlachascotee River runs through the city.  The City has a total area of 4.6 square miles and has approximately 17,000 residents, which makes the City the largest in the County.

The City operates under the Council-Manager form of government and the successful candidate will work closely with the City Manager develop and implement initiatives that improve the effectiveness of the organization and ensures the continued quality of the community.  The Planning and Community Development Director will be responsible to lead in the areas of Planning and Development, Building and Safety, and Residential Improvements for the City.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration or in a closely related field, plus seven (7) years increasingly responsible experience in municipal administration in either planning or community development, and five (5) years’ experience supervising staff preferably in a municipality or other public jurisdiction. A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

The City of New Port Richey is offering a competitive salary range between $86,480 – $105,720, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
